The strike led by Sud-Rail and the CGT-Cheminots at the SNCF, in protest against the dismantling of Fret SNCF and the opening to competition, will have a very limited impact on traffic on Friday. In Ile-de-France, only five commuter train lines will be affected, with disruptions mainly on the RER D, where one train in three is planned. On the RER C and Transilien line V, two out of three trains will run, while lines H and N will operate at 75%.
In the rest of the country, the SNCF expects a return to near-normal for regional trains, although some localized disruptions are possible. Main line traffic, TGV and Intercités, will not suffer any cancellations, continuing the trend observed on Thursday.
No disruptions expected at Christmas
The resigning Minister of Transport, François Durovray, wanted to reassure travelers, affirming on Sud Radio that trains will run normally for Christmas. “There is a social movement that is underway today but which will have very little impact,” he said, recalling the efforts made to limit disruption. “We discussed with the unions […] which resulted in the signature of two unions out of four and therefore a limitation of the strike. »
The mobilization actually ran out of steam after the agreement signed by Unsa-Ferroviaire and CFDT-Cheminots, guaranteeing the maintenance of the rights of Fret SNCF employees for three years. However, Sud-Rail, which denounces a broader threat to railway workers, maintains its call for a strike. “We have not entered into a symbolic movement, but rather into a union response, in the more or less long term,” the union said in a press release.
