FIFA officially launched a new page in football history with the first edition of the Club World Cup. A unique tournament which will bring together 32 teams from the four corners of the globe to compete from June 15 to July 13 in the United States. Inspired by the model of the national World Cup, this competition promises a breathtaking spectacle, and PSG is one of the contenders for glory.
The draw: a tough group for PSG
Thursday evening, the draw for the group stages placed PSG in the group Balongside Atlético Madrid, Botafogo and the Seattle Sounders. An already tough first step for Luis Enrique's men.
- Revenge against Atlético Madrid: The Colchoneros, recent defeaters of PSG in the Champions League with a 2-1 victory at the Parc des Princes, will open the ball. An opportunity for the Parisians to correct their situation after having lacked realism during their last confrontation.
- A shock against Botafogo: Owned by John Textor and winner of the Copa Libertadores, the Brazilian club is on the rise. This duel promises to be explosive.
- An American challenge: Finally, PSG will face the Seattle Sounders, a historic Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise, who will play at home and could surprise with their solid team.
A potential journey strewn with pitfalls
In the event of qualification, the first two in each group will advance to the round of 16. PSG could then come across a team from Group A, which includes renowned opponents:
