Formula 1 Lawson Red Bull – Liam Lawson is preparing to debut as Red Bull's regular driver in 2025, replacing Sergio Perez and alongside Max Verstappen. An important transition, extremely talked about in recent weeks, which the young New Zealander aims to face with enthusiasm and awareness. “There are definitely advantages and disadvantages,” explained the former Racing Bulls rider. “Right now I'm only focusing on the positives. It's incredible for a driver to have a car that has just won the world title at his disposal. It will be a complex path, with many new circuits, but knowing that you are entering a competitive context is extremely stimulating.”
Lawson and the challenge with Verstappen
A key point of his journey will be the possibility of comparing himself directly with Verstappen, reigning champion and authentic dominator of recent seasons: “Being able to learn from one of the best of all time is a unique opportunity. Accessing the data, analyzing each session and observing its working method is something priceless. I can't wait to test myself.”
The time spent as a reserve driver was an opportunity to gain experience by closely observing the work of the team and his teammate. “In recent years I have followed every detail. I attended the meetings, listened to the communications during the races and studied the technical briefings. They were precious moments for my professional growth. About Max, however, there is no doubt that he faces situations in a calm manner. Outside the car, he manages to isolate himself from everything that can distract him. This approach impressed me and I believe it will be fundamental for me too.”
Waiting for the debut in Australia
Lawson's official debut will take place during the Australian Grand Prix, which will open the season on 16 March 2025. The debut will be the first step in an ambitious challenge, which will see him measure himself against the expectations of a top team and with the competition direct with the reigning world champion.
