The USFP supports the new version of the Family Code – Telquel.ma

SAccording to the USFP press release, this meeting took place to discuss adjustments to the Family Code in response to the recommendations of the Ulema Council on religious texts and royal directives.

The first secretary of the USFP, during this meeting, praised the inclusive code review process, “beginning with the adoption of a series of extensive consultations,” underlines the press release. The USFP is proud to contribute to a project that meets the “transformations of society and the demands of the times,”adapted for a modern Morocco.

The press release adds that the party particularly appreciates the approach of the King, who in his capacity as Commander of the Faithful, submitted religious texts to the Council of Ulemas, thus avoiding any politicization of these texts. This approach is seen as a protection against the political use of Islam, thus promoting a unified national discourse.

Furthermore, the USFP expressed its appreciation for the royal encouragement to continue reflection and innovation in family jurisprudence. “This renewed framework will make it possible to deepen research on current legal issues surrounding the Moroccan family,” specifies the press release.

The party also welcomed the move to legalize these changes through the ordinary legislative process, marking a significant step forward in legislation. “The consecration of this legislative text… following the ordinary legislative route,” demonstrates Morocco's commitment to the principles of justice, equality, and solidarity anchored in both Islamic values ​​and universal norms.
