Solitary and adventurous, Storm de Beul was 22 years old when he died, surprised by a violent storm last October while hiking in the Swedish wilderness. His mother told her story to the media 7sur7.

“We just want it to be remembered for what it was: very calm water with very deep soils.”. These words are those of Elisabeth Rademaker, whose son died last October in a snowstorm in Sweden. The mother told her son's story to the media 7sur7 in an article published Tuesday, November 26.

Solitary and nature lover, Storm de Beul, originally from Grammont, Belgium, was 22 years old. An adventurer, he was hiking in the Swedish wilderness when he was surprised by a violent snowstorm. “It's snowing heavily here. But don't worry, I'll survive, you know” : here are the words that the young Belgian sent to his grandmother a few hours before he died.

“I constantly imagine his last moments”

On the night of October 29 to 30, shortly before 2 a.m., Storm sent a distress signal to the Swedish emergency services when the temperature felt at –18 degrees and the wind was blowing, according to her mother. The young man indicates that he is injured and needs help. But due to the weather conditions, rescuers cannot intervene. The searches are thus only carried out from the following morning. Around 10 a.m., Storm was found. He was officially declared dead shortly after. “He must have suffered for a long time and died alone. I keep imagining his last moments. It devastates me”his mother also testified to 7sur7.
