Closure confirmed for the Valeo factory in La Suze-sur-Sarthe, employees in shock

The ax has fallen this Wednesday, November 27 for the 270 employees of the Valeo factory in La Suze-sur-, after months of torture waiting for a buyer to come forward to buy their site currently specialized in the manufacture of thermal equipment for the automotive sector. During a European company committee, the closure of the Sarthoise factory was announced, Bleu Maine learned from union sources. Valeo highlights the slowdown in European automobile production to justify this decision.

Since the announcement of the put on sale of the La Suze factory, employees carried out several actions such as walkouts as well as a strike movement about ten days in October. On October 24, a large part of them parade through the streets of the municipality, supported by several elected officials and by traders worried about the future of the local economic fabric. In total, including temporary workers, Valeo employs 300 people in La Suze, many of whom are over 50 years old.
