Joshua Kimmich is under Vincent Kompany at FC Bayern. The coach is hoping for a contract extension for his star.

München A few months ago it was still absolutely unclear whether Joshua Kimmich even had a future in the Bayern jersey at number six. The signing of Joao Palhinha in particular has fueled doubts about this.

What is even more astonishing is the fact that Kimmich, unlike before under Tuchel, has his permanent place in the central midfield again and is no longer an integral part of the team. However, coach Vincent Kompany leaves no doubt about what outcome he is hoping for in Kimmich Poker. “Joshua has played every single minute so far, so the answer is simple. He showed in every game that he is important for us,” said the Bayern coach during the PK after the Champions League game against Saint-Germain.

However, Kompany also has to hope that the bosses assess Kimmich’s value in the same way as he does. All he can do is help that Kimmich enjoys playing for FC Bayern. “Contract details are not my job. My job is to make sure the players are motivated, happy and ready to fight for this club. I get that feeling from Joshua every day. Everything else is a matter between him and the club – and I respect that,” said the Bayern coach.
