In connection with storm Bert, the south wind will strengthen on Monday over the Massif Central, with gusts of 90 to 100 km/h, or even up to 110 km/h in Haute-Loire.
Météo-France placed, from Monday morning, nine departments in the center-east of the country on orange vigilance for «vent violent»like the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department which has been since Sunday morning. The departments of Isère, Ain and Jura were added on Sunday evening to the list of departments on alert, joining Puy-de-Dôme, Saône-et-Loire, Allier, Loire, the Haute-Loire and the Rhône. All will be assigned from midnight to 4 p.m.
“In connection with the depression “Bert” the south-southeast wind has strengthened in the departments placed on orange alert.noted Météo-France in his bulletin Sunday evening. “During the night from Sunday to Monday, while it remains strong on the Pyrenean ridges, the south wind strengthens on the Central Massif (gusts of 90 to 100 km/h, or even 110 km/h in Haute-Loire, Yssingeaux sector in particular)”explains the organization again. “These strong winds extend to the south of Lyonnais and the Gier valley on Monday morning, with gusts reaching 100 to 110 km/h”even 120 km/h locally, warns the press release.
Passage of depression Bert
But these winds should weaken in the morning over the Pyrenees, at the start of the afternoon over the Massif Central and a little later between Saint-Étienne and Lyon, according to Météo-France. In addition, on Monday, 55 departments will be placed on yellow alert for this windy episode, compared to 63 on Sunday. Météo-France placed the Pyrénées-Atlantiques on orange alert on Sunday morning and until 6 p.m. This area is affected by the passage of the Bert depression further north.
