This Saturday, November 23, was held at the port of Longoni on the last day of the 13th edition of the industry week. A non-trivial place. The port indeed represents a perfect example of industrialization.

Around forty stands present at the port of Longoni and representing various companies from Mayotte. Round tables around themes linked to the industrialization of the island. It was about making an honest inventory of what exists and especially what remains to be done.

The industrial sector in Mayotte is in fact largely weak compared to mainland or other overseas departments. An observation, however, far from being inevitable. Recently, the emphasis has been placed on increasing the skills of Mahorese companies in various fields: digital, agri-food, aeronautics, tourism, and even commerce.

Mayotte is rich in projects. Now there is the financial question. State services are ready to put their hands in their pockets, particularly businesses whose financial needs are clearly identified. We can cite the desalination plants of Petite Terre and Ironi Bé, the Dembéni analysis laboratory for the agri-food sector and the need to reduce agri-food imports.

The keys to the success of all projects lie in clearly listing the diverse and varied needs: land, technical, financial needs, etc. Another essential point, professions and training. Here too, it is about targeting what needs to be put in place, when, how, for which category of people, instead of mass training without a specific goal.

Lately, made in local is favored. And in this area, very small and medium-sized businesses seem to have spotted the right opportunity. Strong return of brick instead of concrete blocks, construction of wooden objects, recycling of plastic to give a second life to various objects. Without forgetting food made in Mayotte.

The island's economic players anticipate the needs of Mayotte, the needs of businesses to provide support in a targeted manner. The goal is to limit the time for setting up and constructing projects in the region.
