The first results of the CIRA – Avangarde and CURS exit polls for the 2024 presidential elections, round 1, have appeared, with data collected until 21:00. The results of the exit polls show Marcel Ciolacu as the winner, while the fight for the final in the 2nd round is between Elena Lasconi and Călin Georgescu, the surprise candidate in third place.

Mircea Geoană announced his retirement from politics
UPDATE 22:23 Mircea Geoană declared, when asked about the future of his career, that what he has done so far is more than enough.
“As for active politics, I think you have to put your boots on the nail at a certain moment (…) What we have done so far is more than enough,” he said.
He appreciated that currently “these are extremely complicated times for Romania”.
“The massive vote against the current system tonight must be a wake-up call for those who do traditional politics. It is a message of great anger and frustration and anger against the current party system and those who do not understand this message I think are playing with the fire”, emphasized Geoană.

UPDATE 22:01 Kelemen Hunor stated, when asked who he will support in the final for Cotroceni, that the support of a candidate in the second round will be discussed after the parliamentary elections.
“On December 2 we will make a decision. Before the parliamentary elections, we will not discuss this topic”, he declared.
“I want to thank everyone who today, on November 24, gave me a vote of confidence. I am honored by every vote and I can promise you that, no matter what happens after the second round, what we will do will be representing the interests of all people, all communities and we will represent the voice of the nation. (…) It's not a vote for me, it's a vote for my team, for every colleague, for every person who was with me, regardless of whether they are parliamentarians or from the campaign team”, the UDMR leader also said .
Ciucă's reaction: “There is room for everyone on the Romanian political scene”

UPDATE 21:37 Călin Georgescu sent a message after the first results of the exit polls for the presidential elections were made public: “We have a duty to restore Romania and that is the most important thing. The Romanian people understood that through family they are the backbone of Romanian society and no matter what happens we will love our small family and our big family, which means my people, the country.”
George Simion accuses 'toxic poll manipulation'
UPDATE 21:30 George Simion says that he was voted by two million Romanians and that public opinion was “manipulated by toxic polls”.
“I believe that the result that will be confirmed today comes only as a result of the work and by the will of God, who works for his people. No one trained me, unlike my competitors, I took my work seriously”, said Simion after the polls closed.

UPDATE 21: 20 Elena Lasconi conveys, after the first exit-poll results, that she is waiting for the counting of votes and the official results.
“I want to thank all the Romanians who voted Hope is alive in Romania, I thank all those who voted for me and I convey to you that for me every vote is a responsibility. UPDATE 21:12 Marcel Ciolacu, the candidate who obtained the most votes in the first round of the presidential elections according to the exit polls published by Digi24, thanked the Romanians who gave him “confidence”.
The PSD candidate claims that he will negotiate with those who did not enter the second round to take over “all the good proposals” from their country projects.

For the 2024 presidential elections, the Central Electoral Bureau accredited four polling institutions: the Urban and Regional Sociology Center – CURS, the AVANGARDE Socio-Behavioral Studies Group, The Center for International Research and Analyzes and ARA Public Opinion SRL.

What the last polls showed before the election
Two days before the presidential elections, three polls showed different results regarding the candidates with chances to enter the second round against Marcel Ciolacu.
On the last day of the election campaign, a Verifield survey commissioned by USR indicated equality between George Simion and Elena Lasconi, while another, conducted by The Center for International Research and Analyzes (CIRA), showed that Simion is in second place.
And an AtlasIntel survey, cited by Hotnews, still showed a close fight for qualification in the 2nd round, but this time Elena Lasconi had a small lead.
