Defeated in the final of the Paris Olympics by Team USA, the French basketball team does not have an official broadcaster for the EuroBasket qualifiers. DAZN can broadcast Les Bleus matches for free.
Like rugby, with its Top 14 which continues during the international windows, basketball offers itself a funny situation this Thursday: the clash between Monaco and Asvel in the Euroleague (11th day) is played at the same time as a meeting of the France team in the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers! At least, Frédéric Fauthoux's Blues match against Cyprus (6 p.m.), in Nicosia, is broadcast free of charge by DAZN (on DAZN 1, accessible on the site and the application, as well as via Canal+).
Three months after the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and an anthology final lost against Steph Curry's Team USA, the Blues do not have an official broadcaster. Obviously,
Victor Wenbanyama is not back in selection. French players playing in the NBA and those in the Euroleague do not participate in the World Cup and Euro playoff campaigns. But Fiba has not managed to sell, in France, the TV rights to the qualifying matches for EuroBasket 2025 and the 2027 World Cup. DAZN is taking the opportunity to broadcast them for free for the moment, as specified
The Team.
France-Cyprus Sunday on DAZN
The Blues are off to a good start in these qualifiers for this EuroBasket which will be played from August 27 to September 14 in Cyprus, Finland, Poland and Lithuania. Last February, with Mathias Lessort and Guerschon Yabusele, they beat Croatia (73–61) then Bosnia-Herzegovina (74-64). France thus has two matches against Cyprus, this Thursday in Nicosia, then Sunday in Poitiers (5 p.m., free on DAZN). The French will meet the Croats and Bosnians in February to validate their ticket (the first three are qualified).
For the meeting in Cyprus, Vincent Collet's successor lined up a five made up of Nolan Traoré (Saint-Quentin), Adam Mokoka (Cluj-Napoca), Nicolas Lang (Limoges), Yoan Makoundou (Ankara) and Brice Dessert (Strasbourg) . The new Ligue 1 broadcaster could perhaps join forces with the L'Equipe channel to broadcast the rest of the qualifiers. As for EuroBasket, it is generally broadcast by beIN Sports.
