A simple quarrel between customers degenerated last Saturday in a restaurant in Graulhet. May-Li, 29, says she filed a complaint after she and members of her family were attacked.
The karaoke evening degenerated last Saturday in a restaurant in Graulhet located on the banks of the Dadou, with a fight between customers and the intervention of the gendarmes. It all seems to have started from an altercation in the ladies' room. May-Li, a 29-year-old young woman, arrived at the establishment around 10:30 p.m. with her husband and members of her in-laws. According to her, her sister-in-law began to be attacked in the toilet by a drunk woman, aged around fifty. “When the lady came back into the room, she looked at us askance and gave us the finger but hey, she was drunk and we didn’t get up.”
But the situation continued to escalate. May-Li explains that after making a remark to the woman in question, the latter allegedly grabbed him by the throat and pinned him against a mirror, while one of her friends held his arms to prevent him from moving. The two women and their companions then attacked her sister-in-law, hitting her several times in the face and shoulder before falling on her. “They smashed my head against the bar, I was slapped, beaten in the stomach and legs,” says May-Li.
Three days of ITT
The young woman called the police, to whom she gave her version of the facts upon their arrival before going to the emergency room, where she explained that she and her sister-in-law were issued a medical certificate with 3 days of ITT. May-Li adds that she filed a complaint the next day with the Graulhet gendarmerie, who began interviewing members of her family present during the incidents on Sunday.
She also accuses the managers of the establishment of having let the attackers do their thing and then of having put pressure on her the next day not to publicize the affair. Contacted by La Dépêche, the latter deny it and speak of “childishness”. “A little thing between women which took on a disproportionate magnitude and it stopped there, that's all”, they put it into perspective, nevertheless confirming the arrival of the gendarmes at the end of the evening.
