This November 19, 2024, actress Judith Godrèche announced that she had been indicted for “defamation” following a complaint from Jacques Doillon. She had notably criticized the director for having had sexual relations with children.
The one who accused Jacques Doillon of sexual violence against a minor is in turn targeted by the director. The latter filed a complaint for defamation against the actress, following which she was indicted, she reveals in a “story” Instagram.
“The complaint filed by your attacker”
“When you cry at home after receiving a notice of indictment for defamation linked to the complaint filed by your attacker, when the plumber is going to ring any minute to repair the boiler, when you try to be a good actress and act as if nothing happened”wrote Judith Godrèche this Tuesday.
Before completing his revelations in a permanent publication: “I have not counted the number of complaints for rape against Jacques Doillon. I know that mine is time-barred. But his defamation complaint is not. The indictment, in this case, is automatic. But anyway…”
Jacques Doillon's complaint dates back to February 2024, note The Parisian. The director believed that the actress had held “deeply offensive comments” to his dignity.
Automatic procedure
If the receipt of this letter is unprecedented, the procedure announced it. And for good reason, the indictment for defamation following a complaint is automatic if the author of the attacked remarks is identified and it is proven that they were indeed made.
MeToo of French cinema
Judith Godrèche filed a complaint against directors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon for sexual and physical violence which dates back to her adolescence.
Jacques Doillon is the target of several rape complaints. He was taken into custody and then released in June. He is presumed innocent.
