Thibau Nys (22) seemed to be entitled to victory in the Flandriencross in Hamme for a long time, but a collision in the final decided otherwise. The European champion crashed fatally into a post after a steering error and crossed the finish line battered. Is the damage not too bad?
The European champion seemed to mainly feel his right knee, and Sven Nys confirmed afterwards that his son is in pain. “It was a serious blow, but he was able to move everything immediately. He does have knee pain, but we have no idea yet whether it is serious.”

“I was really catapulted”
Thibau himself also gave some explanation about his fall afterwards. “The fight for victory was already over by then. I already had to let go, and then I veer off track and hit a post with my pedal and steering wheel and I am really catapulted. That was a famous battle. It’s all not too bad, but I hit the ground at 35 to 40 kilometers per hour. That is a blow that hits hard.”
Fortunately, the damage appears to be limited. “It’s not too bad. My neck is a little stiff and it is a little difficult for me to move. But all in all, nothing too bad.”
