Rio – Botafogo coach Artur Jorge was involved in a fight with striker Everaldo, from Vitória, at the end of the match at Nilton Santos. The controversy occurred after the Portuguese player weighed in with referee Ramon Abatti Abel on the field after the final whistle. The athlete from the Bahian club ended up attacking the opposing team's coach and was restrained by his teammates.
The end of the match between the two teams was marked by a lot of tension. Botafogo, who sought a draw after 40 minutes, still had Tiquinho Soares sent off, after receiving two yellow cards in a very short space of time. The six-minute addition given by the referee irritated the black and white team.
