The Spanish club Villarreal revealed the results of the examinations of its Moroccan international striker, Elias Akhoumash, after the injury he suffered yesterday, a few minutes before the end of the first half of the match against Alaves in the 13th round of the “La Liga” competitions.
The club announced, in an official statement, that Akhoumash suffers from a complete tear in the anterior cruciate ligament and a sprain in the inner collateral ligament of the right knee.
Villarreal indicated that he will later reveal information regarding the surgical intervention that the Moroccan player will undergo in the next few days and details of the duration of his absence from the team.
Akhoumash is now exempt from joining the Moroccan national team camp at the beginning of next week. This will prompt national voter Walid Regragui to search for alternative solutions to compensate for his absence, by summoning another player such as Zakaria Abu Khalal, Sofiane Diop, Amine Harit, or Tariq Tisoudali.
It is worth noting that the Moroccan player Elias Akhomache scored his first goal of the season in La Liga yesterday, achieving the lead for his team, Villarreal, in the 38th minute of the match, a few minutes before he was injured.
