FC Barcelona suffered its second defeat in La Liga this season. The leaders of the competition played their worst match this season and lost away to Real Sociedad 0-1 after a goal by Sheraldo Becker. Robert Lewandowski was sluggish in this match, like all of Barcelona, but in one situation in the 13th minute he showed his great class when he controlled the ball after Frenkie de Jong’s unsuccessful shot and beat Alex Remiro.

“Bigfoot”. This is Lewandowski’s new nickname. This is what the Spaniards called the Pole
And although Spain has a semi-automatic offside system, it is not certain that the Pole’s goal was rightly annulled. The TV graphics raised serious doubts as to whether the computer had made a mistake, and the image analysis had confused the feet of Lewandowski and the last defender of Real Sociedad, Nayef Aguerd. In the end, however, there was no 15th goal in the season for the national team captain.
“Frustrated” – this is how the Mundo Deportivo daily described Robert Lewandowski after the match. “If he had had a shoe two sizes smaller, he would have had another goal and Barcelona would have taken the lead. However, his leg was deemed larger than Aguerda’s (at least according to VAR) and the goal was disallowed. There wasn’t much more of him in the match” – we read in the description.
According to “Marka”, Robert Lewandowski had a better first half than the second. However, for the entire match he received only a score of “5.5” on a scale of 1-10. Only Inaki Pena, Inigo Martinez and Dani Olmo received higher scores of “6”.
“The Polish representative is pushing to win the Pichichi award. He has 14 goals and could not increase his tally because his goal was canceled due to a tiny, millimeter offside. In the second half, he did not find a way to hurt Real Sociedad.”
The Catalan “Sport” also underestimated Lewandowski’s performance and gave him a score of “5” on a ten-point scale. Several other players received a similar one, but none received a lower one. The highest “7” was given to Dani Olmo, Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi.
However, what stands out the most is the description of Lewandowski as “robbed”. This is what the journalist of “Sport” Toni Juanmarti called him: “He scored a completely correct goal, but VAR canceled it in a situation that will cause many discussions. Later, he was careless when receiving the ball and had no other opportunity.”
“As” in turn gave Lewema a new nickname. He called the Pole “Bigfoot”. “Either the Pole will score 50 goals, or we will have to ask why his goal was annulled. VAR certainly made a decision based on millimeters. Apart from this shot, however, the striker looked lost and did not receive the equivalent of the ball,” wrote the justification.
Now Robert Lewandowski and FC Barcelona have a break for the national team, and the Catalans will play their next league match on November 23, when they will face Celta Vigo away.
