Chelsea ensured they put on a show for the home crowd last night as they completed a devastating victory in the Conference League group stages.
The Blues doubled their goal tally for the campaign with an 8-0 win at Stamford Bridge against Noah, in a game that resembled men against boys.
Six different players found the net last night as Enzo Maresca was able to give most of his squad who didn’t start against Manchester United a run out.
He was also able to hand a number of youngsters an opportunity to impress. Chelsea fans were very impressed with Tyrique George in particular.
Axel Disasi delighted Chelsea scored from two corners
The defence was all-change too, allowing Axel Disasi a rare opportunity to start a game, albeit in his less-favoured position of right-back.
The Frenchman was the second Blue to find the net from a corner in the first half, following on from Tosin Adarabioyo who opened the scoring.
It was the first times this season Chelsea had scored directly from a corner, and Disasi said after the game that it was about time they rewarded their set piece coach with a goal.
He said to TNT Sports: “Our set piece coach Bernardo [Cueva] told us we have to score [from a corner kick] tonight because we didn’t do that since the beginning of the season. I think tonight he will be very happy with the two goals.”
Bernardo Cueva was a key hire for Chelsea
A lot was made when Chelsea hired Bernardo Cueva from Brentford, paying a significent fee to hopefully solve their set-piece woes.
The much-changed defence did see them start a lot more height and strength than they perhaps usually do, and they certainly used this to their advantage against their lower-level opposition.
The dominant display saw a number of players making a point to Maresca that they should be considered for more minutes in the coming games.
Joao Felix really impressed pundit Jason Cundy, and could well be in line for a start against Arsenal if Cole Palmer is not fit enough to feature at the weekend against Arsenal.
