This Wednesday, November 6, Tisséo unveiled another strategic point of the future line C: the garage-atelier Datura. The 12-hectare site is located north of Toulouse, in the Sept-deniers district.
Tisséo chose to locate it there because it is halfway of the future linebetween Colomiers and Labège, and right next to a key station, the future Sept deniers – Stade Toulousain station. Its entry into service is planned at the same time as that of line C, in 2028.
Storage and repair
Cranes and excavators have already been working for several months. This share of the market has been entrusted to local companies. It was first necessary to clean the floors of this former recycling center before building. Three main buildings must come out of the ground by next summer: a large hall where the metro trains will be stored, a hangar for repairing rolling stock and another workshop reserved for maintenance.
“We have the same thing for line A and line B. The new features are environmental, everything is carbon-free, there is a lot of work being done to recover the water. explains Jean-Michel Lattes, president of Tisséo Collectivités and vice-president of Toulouse Métropole. A surface of 9,500 square meters of photovoltaic panels will also be installed on the roof of the storage hall.
Works until 2027
Details from Olivier Arsac, mayor of the Sept deniers, Ginestous and Lalande districts: “We have a floor area of 20,000 square meters, around forty trains will be maintained here and a whole bunch of professions will be developed around this.“The total cost of this work is estimated at 50 million euros.
And from next summer, Alstom will take over until the end of 2025, including the installation of rails on the eight tracks. The company will also supply the metros and signage. THE tunnel which will connect line C to the garage-workshop will also be built in 2025, and will pass under the A621.
The site will open in 2027, it will take an additional year of dry operation, for commissioning planned for 2028. Tisséo expects approximately 200,000 travelers per day on this future line C.
