While a tifo in support of Palestine was deployed in the stands of the Parc des Princes before the kick-off of the Champions League match against Atlético de Madrid, this Wednesday (2-1 defeat), PSG published a press release in which he dissociated himself from this message.
A message that inevitably gets people talking a lot. This Wednesday evening, a few minutes before the kick-off of the Champions League match between PSG and Atlético de Madrid (1-2), Parisian supporters deployed a “Free Palestine” banner in the Auteuil du Parc corner of Princes. Later in the evening, the Parisian club wanted to dissociate itself from this message.

“The club was not aware of the plan to display such a message,” assures PSG. “Paris Saint-Germain recalls that the Parc des Princes is – and must remain – a place of communion around a common passion for football and firmly opposes any message of a political nature in its stadium.”
“Free Palestine. War on the ground but peace in the world”, we could read on this tifo. The flag of Lebanon was also present.
UEFA prohibits this type of message
As UEFA indicates in its regulations, this type of tifo is prohibited. “The promotion or announcement, by any means whatsoever, of political messages or any other political action within or in the immediate vicinity of the stadium is strictly prohibited before, during and after the match.”
Some members of the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) openly support the Palestinian cause. Standards in pan-Arab colors have regularly been seen in the Auteuil bend in recent years.
Israel entered into armed conflict with the Palestinian movement Hamas after its attack on October 7, 2023. The Israeli offensive launched in retaliation in Gaza left 43,374 dead, mostly civilians, according to data from the Hamas Ministry of Health, deemed reliable by the UN.
