«In this little Provençal paradise lived Charles Aznavour“. Here is what we can read at the entrance to Charles Aznavour's farmhouse, in Mouriès, in Bouches-du-Rhône (13), not far from Marseille. While the biopic Mr Aznavour was released in theaters at the end of October, fans of the singer can rent Charles Aznavour's house, on Airbnb or on Booking. Everything here refers to the memory of Aznavour, whether it is the thousand-year-old olive tree surrounded by earth brought from Armenia or the gypsy caravan offered by the Gipsy Kings. Charles Aznavour was also proud to show his friends the thousand-year-old olive tree which stood in the middle of his beloved Provençal property. No less than 600 olive trees were planted alongside the thousand-year-old olive tree. Olive oil called Aigo Claro is produced in this area, evoking the initials of Charles Aznavour. The singer of “For me formidable” watched his concerts in the cinema room with red armchairs still present in the house. He also had an indoor swimming pool built, to relax between two concerts.
The property also includes a tennis court, a gym, a sauna, a hot tub, a ping-pong table as well as a billiards table and a library. And even an elevator. Please note, however, that it is impossible to rent the house for the night only. Reservations are made for a minimum of 7 nights. The maximum accommodation capacity is 16 people, the house being made up of 8 bedrooms and 10 beds. Count on almost 900 euros per night.
Charles Aznavour's neighbor as owner
«He completely created this house and it calmed him a lot. From the balcony he could survey the estate, keep an eye on what was happening“, tells BFMTV microphone Richard, the singer's neighbor who invested all his savings to acquire the 660 square meter house. When he bought the property four years ago, he spent no less than 2 million euros. Richard knew Charles Aznavour's butler. Moreover, the artist spent the last years of his life in this house, with his butler. Originally, it was an investor who was to buy the house and Richard was to be the manager but ultimately, after Covid, Richard decided to buy the house.
Even though the house has retained the spirit of the French song legend, almost all of the decoration has been changed in order to modernize it. On Booking, people who have stayed in Aznavour's old house are full of praise: “The indoor swimming pool is a nice addition”, “The garden is magnificent», «A magnificent place that has a soul!», «walk in the footsteps of the great Charles Aznavour, enter into the intimacy of a great artist, with complete confidence…».
