The Minister of the Civil Service, Guillaume Kasbarian, says he is ready this Sunday for “constructive social dialogue”. He will also receive the unions next Thursday.
Increasing sick leave waiting days in the public sector continues to ignite debates. The measure, put forward by the Minister of the Civil Service, Guillaume Kasbarian, is still debated in the legislative process. It would make it possible to get closer to the system put in place in the private sector and to collect 1.2 billion euros to fill France's abysmal deficit. The unions denounce a “official bashing” orchestrated by the executive.
This Sunday noon, the minister defends himself on the air of LCI, believing that “no, there are not too many civil servants in France” and that we must rather “take responsibility for the issue of absenteeism”. Pour Guillaume Kasbarian, “civil servants are also the first victims of absenteeism [car] when there are repeated absences, they affect those who remain”. It does not exclude carrying out “a cold assessment of public services ministry by ministry and administration by administration […] in order to be able to adjust the workforce upwards or downwards” out of the country's 5.7 million civil servants.
As for the differentiated exposure to risks between certain civil servants, the minister assures that his reform “will not change the cover”. He cites in particular problems which can arise “in long-term condition” like “work accidents, cancers or even pregnancy complications”. Guillaume Kasbarian will receive the unions next Thursday, at 2:30 p.m., and says he “ready for the most constructive social dialogue possible”.
