On Halloween evening, various incidents punctuated the evening of the 31st in several towns in the Loire department. The police were mobilized, as were several teams of firefighters. In total: nine municipalities are concerned.
Three young people were arrested
According to information from the daily Le Progrès, several groups of young minors set fire to trash cans, various objects as well as two cars. Some of these young people, intoxicated by the pumpkin lantern festival, even tried to prevent the police and firefighters from intervening to put out one of the fires they had started. Three individuals were arrested.
The events occurred in the municipalities of Saint-Chamond, La Grand-Croix, Andrézieux-Bouthéon, Saint-Étienne, Lorette, La Ricamarie, Firminy and Chambon-Feugerolles. In addition to the fires, mortar fire also took place. In the town of Rive-de-Gier, a town of 16,000 inhabitants, the damage was limited to “a trash fire quickly extinguished and mortars fired by around ten teenagers”summarizes Mayor Vincent Bony. According to the councilor, parents, elected officials and the municipal police made sure to contain the minimal incidents.
