The Minister of Culture Rachida Dati is publishing this Sunday, October 20, aerial views of the work carried out on the building which is due to reopen on December 8 to the public and the faithful, five years after the fire which devastated it.

48 days before the reopening to the public of Notre-Dame de , the cathedral ravaged five years ago by an accidental fire, which occurred on April 15 and 16, 2019, the Minister of Culture Rachida Dati reveals this Sunday, October 20 on X ( formerly Twitter) new and exceptional aerial images of the latest work still in progress.

The meticulous work of artisans

Filmed by drone, these views allow you to see the two towers, as well as the roof and the spire destroyed by the flames, which have been rebuilt, and astonishing views of the building, still surrounded by two cranes and numerous scaffolding.

“Observe the meticulous work of artisans from the sky of Paris” underlines the minister in support of these images, where we actually see all kinds of trades busy, and detailing the beauty of the sculptures and stones which are today finding a new lease of life.

The cathedral restoration project should be kept on time, but also within budget, according to Philippe Jost, who succeeded General Jean-Louis Georgelin, his predecessor at the head of the public establishment responsible for this titanic mission. : it should amount to 550 million euros, less than the amount of the subscription launched the day after the fire, and which raised 846 million euros. The remaining sums could subsequently be allocated to work on the exterior of the cathedral and its immediate surroundings.

The public will be able to enter Notre-Dame again from December 8, undoubtedly by using a new dedicated application to reserve a specific slot, but also by queuing in front of the building.
