The weather was cool but dry this Sunday morning when the runners set off to tackle the 20 km of , a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower. The race went rather well for the French since among the girls, Manon Trapp shone while Yann Schrub came close to victory among the boys.

Aged 24, the French athlete finished first in the women’s race. But she didn’t just win: she delivered a sensational performance. With a time of 1h04′44′’, the Frenchwoman achieved the second best mark in the history of the event!

In the men’s race, Yann Schrub, 28, narrowly missed the gold medal. The French runner battled until the end with the Ethiopian Mekonen Hayimro Yele, before giving in in the sprint. The winner achieved a time of 58′03″… Three seconds less than Yann Schrub.

More than 31,000 people registered this Sunday to participate in the race. If the average age of the participants was 38 years old, there were also older ones since the oldest runner was 89 years old! The start took place from the Pont d’Iéna, with the Eiffel Tower in the back. After completing a loop, the runners arrived at the foot of it. Find the complete ranking by clicking on this link.
