The Star Academy made his return to TF1 with its first bonus for the twelfth season, this Saturday, October 12, 2024. The presentation of the 15 new candidates was on the program, and viewers were able to discover: Charles, Ebony, Emma, Franck, Marguerite, Massea, Maurine, Maïa, Noah , Paul, Thomas, Ulysses, Julie and Maylis. The young students, all aged between 18 and 24, will try to achieve victory, like Pierre Garnier before them. All on a new platform”which will make it possible to make the biggest television show in Europe”, explained the program director of TF1Fabrice Bailly during the channel’s back-to-school press conference. The opportunity also for early fans to meet former candidates, like Lucie Bernardoni, but not only that.
During the prime, Nikos Aliagas presented the music group which will accompany the candidates on stage throughout the adventure. Introducing this year’s drummer, Mathieu Edward, he did not fail to specify that he was the finalist of season 7. Before launching: “Welcome back man !”or in French: “Welcome back with us!” After his time in telecrochet, Mathieu Edward launched into music and released an album. He notably made a duet song with the singer Sheryfa Luna, Like Before. Since 2019, he has been part of a Jazz group, called YUSAN, with which he performs regularly. In 2024, the group released a 14-track album, titled Ba Yo.

The Star Academy: reunion season
In addition to Mathieu Edward, during the group’s presentations on stage, Nikos Aliagas pointed out Edouard Algayon, this season’s guitarist. As the presenter recalled: “Edouard, an alumnus of the Star Ac’, the Star Ac’ 3.” After his participation in telecrochet, he joined the bonus orchestra, notably for seasons 4 to 8.
This year also marks the anniversary of Grégory Lemarchal’s victory in the Star Academy in 2004. The young man had left his mark as much by his talent as by his fight against cystic fibrosis. The singer died from this illness on April 30, 2007. The production therefore decided to pay tribute to him. “It’s the 20th anniversary of Grégory’s victory, who will remain our winner of Star Ac’ 4. He wrote many songs that have remained. The students will record a single: an unpublished song by Grégory Lemarchal. I am proud and very moved. I’m eager to ! The proceeds will be donated to Grégory Lemarchal’s association”, explained Karima Charmi during the press conference on September 24.
