When Racing 92 hosts, rugby observers imagine – rightly – prolific matches, in often perfect conditions on the synthetic pitch of the Paris la Défense Aréna. But popular belief has its limits and the Sky and White meetings can also be closed, with few tries and points scored. This was the case this Saturday, during the opening poster of the sixth day of the championship, between Racing 92 and Toulon. In this duel relocated to Créteil, like all the home matches of the Ile-de-France club since the start of the season, no points were scored in the first period.
An obvious awkwardness
This surprising sterility, linked to the clumsiness of the two teams and the playing conditions, is rather very rare in the Top 14. As proof, we have to go back three years (almost to the day) to find such a scenario in the elite . It was already during a reception for Racing 92, this time at the Paris La Défense Aréna, against a revamped Perpignan during the sixth day of the 2021/22 season. A curiosity which shows that a home match of the Ile-de-France club does not always promise a spectacle. The spectators present in Créteil were able to be reassured: points were indeed scored in the 48th minute, thanks to Nolann Le Garrec.
