The Master of the Game (TF1): How did Max Boublil become the accomplice?

“12 celebrities have received a mysterious invitation to participate in an unusual investigation game in a sumptuous residence cut off from the world in which nothing will go as planned.” This is how TF1 partly announced its new show called The Master of the Game, the first two episodes of which were broadcast this Friday, October 11. The goal? Find out who is the celebrity, known to everyone and whose face and name everyone knows, who is behind the master of the game. The 12 personalities, including Max Boublil, were handpicked and chosen because “Known for their roles as police officers on screen, passionate about puzzles, escape games or detective novels”. When entering the game, the 11 other candidates did not know that the hidden celebrity had an accomplice and even less that it was Max Boublil. The actor agreed to tell us his feelings about this role.

Were you warned from the start that you would have the role of accomplice?

Max Boublil : At the beginning, I thought I would be a player and on the weekend, before leaving for the countryside, I was called to say: “Will you accept this role? It’s a driving force in the game.” I said: “Wait, Déborah, honestly, it’s too much. I don’t know.” She told me it would be good if it was me and that’s it, I accepted. And frankly, when they told me, when I went to the castle, because we’re not in the life of Star Ac (laughs), so when we went to the castle, I knew that I was the traitor and the other candidates didn’t even know there was a saboteur in the story. I was the only one who knew and I didn’t have the best dinners (laughs). I had a good laugh with them, but deep down, it made me feel hot.

How did you experience the moment when others learned that you were the saboteur?

Frankly, thanks to the two days before the game when I learned that I was going to be the saboteur, I got used to it (laughs). And in fact, once I was there, ultimately, it was okay but it’s because I lie a lot in life… I betrayed my friends a lot. I’m cheating on my wife… My children are not mine… I’m joking of course. Once you get your nose in, you start to get used to it. But at the beginning, it’s hard. It’s even very hard. Lying all the time is hard, hard, hard. In fact, we’re just lying (laughs). Afterwards we lie temporarily, after an hour or two, it’s over but it’s still complicated to hold on.
