The Alliance police union took advantage of the arrival of Nicolas Daragon, Thursday in Cavaillon, to ask reinforcements for the police station. The Minister for Security comes to support the teams on site, after the fire that destroyed four of their vehiclesWednesday at dawn.
“We ask twelve additional agents within the Cavaillon police stationexplains Grégory Lorient, one of the representatives of the Alliance union in Vaucluse. We need four additional police officers for the investigations, because our colleagues are overwhelmed. And we need eight agents on the public highway, to reinforce the GSP (proximity security groups) and the police emergency teams.“.
A CRS brigade was sent to Cavaillon to reinforce patrols and maintain order after the police cars were set on fire. But this brigade will only stay there for a few days. The Alliance union is calling for lasting reinforcements, particularly to accentuate the fight against drug trafficking which appears to be the cause of the vehicle fire. On Wednesday, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau linked the events in Cavaillon to the vast anti-drug operation which made it possible to dismantle a network of traffickers at the beginning of October.
