Without much effort, Anderlecht took the Clasico on their own this afternoon (3-0). In the first half hour, the Mauve et Blanc scored two goals, the second following a blunder by Epolo. Standard, powerless, was never able to react.

After the European coup at Real Sociedad, Anderlecht, after a meager 4 out of 15 in the league, wanted to return to victory in the league.

Degreef and Verschaeren were started by Hubert, Dendoncker was absent again. Leko, for his part, lined up Zeqiri and Ayensa in attack.

Epolo is lost

Both teams started the match with a lot of grinta. After a few minutes of play, Camara aimed for the opposite corner, but an Anderlecht defender was in the way. Brussels’ first chance ended in a goal. Following a corner, Simic headed into the opposite corner, Epolo was beaten for the first time (1-0).

A dream start for Anderlecht. Despite this lead, the game of the two teams hardly ignited. It was only halfway through the first half that another low cross from Stroeykens was intercepted by Epolo.

At the half-hour mark, Dolberg made a nice shot from around twenty meters, but Epolo was unable to push the ball away: 2-0. Standard also had a few ups and downs. Coosemans making a nice save from a free kick from Bulat.

At half-time, Anderlecht was in perfect control of this Clasico.

VAR cancels a Sporting goal

An early goal would have given Standard hope, but Rouches did not create much danger. It was only on the hour mark that Coosemans had to intervene again on a cross from Hautekiet, while Zeqiri placed a shot close to the post.

Once again, Anderlecht struck through Verschaeren on their first real chance, but the VAR ruled out the goal for offside. The Rouches therefore remained alive, at least for a time.

Afterwards, Leko’s team often had the ball, but they didn’t do much with it. It was only a quarter of an hour from the end that Zeqiri appeared dangerous again, but the solidity of the local goalkeeper prevented an exciting end to the match.

In stoppage time, Dreyer put the icing on the cake with a beautiful strike: 3-0. The Mauve and White therefore easily won, at the end of a match which was very disappointing in terms of tension.

Hubert once again scores points with the Anderlecht management. Standard risks, after a good start, falling down the rankings.

Progress of the match: 1-0 (9′) Simic, 2-0 (30′) Dolberg, 3-0 (90+2′) Dreyer
