New week of European football, at the start of October 2024. Where and when to see the French clubs?
In these first days of October 2024, European football returns with several French clubs to follow, for this second day of the group phase.
Brest in madness, Paris beaten
Two French clubs have already set foot on the green rectangle, this Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Winner of the first Champions League match in its history against Sturm Graz (2-1), Brest did it again on the Salzburg pitch. The Bretons were merciless for their opponents, torpedoing them 4-0 and achieving a second consecutive success.
Later in the evening, Paris did not experience the same joy: in London, Luis Enrique’s troops suffered the law of the Arsenal Gunners, winners 2-0 in a match marked in particular by the absence by Ousmane Dembélé. PSG now counts a victory and a defeat after 180 European minutes, in this 2024-2025 season.
A huge challenge for Lille, Monaco in Zagreb
This Wednesday evening, a huge challenge awaits Lille : the northern club indeed receives Real Madriddefending champion but above all winner of the competition 15 times. This match will mark the return of Kylian Mbappé against a Ligue 1 club, a first since his departure from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The Dogues, for their part, missed their start in the Champions League, since they lost on the lawn of Sporting Portugal (2-0).
Monaco holds its benchmark success against a juggernaut of the Spanish championship. During the first day, the ASM was imposed against FC Barcelona undefeated when presenting himself to Louis II (2-1). To confirm their good start, the Monegasques, who have still not lost a single match this season, go to Croatia, to challenge the Dinamo Zagreb, this October 2, 2024.
And in the Europa League?
The European week will end, as usual, Thursday with the Europa League and the Europa Conference League. As a reminder, no French club is involved in the last competition mentioned. On the other hand, two tricolor representatives appear in the antechamber of the European elite.
