A reprieve for Christian Wohlwend

A reprieve for Christian Wohlwend

As hoped by its supporters, HC Ajoie reacts. Tuesday evening, after the debacle against Berne (editor’s note: 5-0 defeat), the Ultras Ajoulots asked the club’s leaders via a virulent banner to take the bull by the horns. A little earlier in the evening, the Ajoulot players had been whistled, sometimes copiously, as the seventh defeat since the start of the season took shape, then was confirmed. In a press release published this Wednesday, the HCA announces that it is working “tirelessly to strengthen the team in the very short term”. Two new foreigners are expected very soon, a defender and an attacker. Immediately, Finnish defender Kristian Näkyvä will arrive in Porrentruy this Wednesday evening for a trial. If this proves conclusive, the former Davos player should be hired. However, he should not be lined up this Friday against Kloten.

For the moment, Christian Wohlwend will therefore remain on the HCA bench and will lead the team on Friday, according to sports director Julien Vauclair who indicated this to RFJ. The latter, however, is also waiting for a reaction from his trainer. /comm-male

Expected collective reaction

If Christian Wohlwend is retained for the moment, he is not immune. Julien Vauclair affirms that “everyone has their share of responsibility” and that there are “perhaps also things to change in coaching”. Wohlwend will be on the bench on Friday, the outcome still appears very vague and distant, as an immediate reaction is expected by the leaders of the HCA. And this must be embodied by the players, according to the sports director. The latter hopes for greater defensive stability, the cornerstone of an Ajoulot rebound, according to him.

A quest that lasts

The sports director of HC Ajoie has already been looking for rare birds for several days. “The market for foreign players is quite dry today,” recognizes Julien Vauclair who is possibly awaiting opportunities across the Atlantic, where the NHL camps will soon end. The sporting director is currently not looking for Swiss reinforcements, convinced that several players still have them under their belts and must now take their responsibilities… /mle
