Everything started perfectly well for Gouesnou FC with Dare opening the score on a serve from Lesven (20′). Just before the break, Lesven even scored the break goal (42′). These two goals should have increased but instead, Pontrieux came out of his reserve and on a free kick from Connan in the top corner (60′), hope changed sides. Forced to retreat, Gouesnou gave in at the end of stoppage time with the equalizer from Connan’s header who, in the process, scored a double (90+2).
The penalty shootout, as is often the case in these situations, went to the advantage of the equalizing team. Le Gruiec, the visiting goalkeeper repelled two attempts out of three from Gouesnousiens, who were defeated after the final whistle. “It’s a miraculous comeback. Gouesnou played a Cup match for 45 minutes and the gap could have been heavier and finally, we sublimated ourselves at the end of the match to come back and snatch the second 5th round in the history of the club”, savored Florian Le Guen the Pontrivian coach.
