Opposed this Sunday to FC Seudre Océan (D1) for their entry into contention in the Coupe de France, the Girondins easily escaped the trap of the District residents by leading 3-0 at the break. Over Mandanda returned to Bordeaux during the summer
To give some breathing space to his defensive midfielder Emeric Depussay who felt discomfort behind the knee, Bruno Irles chose to bring Over Mandanda, the little brother of Steve Mandanda, training goalkeeper, into the midfield. These few minutes spent with a goalkeeper as a field player did not change the score for Bordeaux, who eliminated the residents of the 9th division and qualified for the fifth round of the Coupe de France, despite the absence of its star scorer Andy Carroll.
The scapular club, administratively relegated to Nationale 2, and, lacking the means to build a new squad, was therefore able to count on the versatility of Over Mandanda, who returned this summer to his training club, from FC Libourne. Initially present in Bordeaux to strengthen the reserve (in N3), the younger Mandanda finally found himself in the first team group this weekend.
Facing Seudre Océan, who played five divisions below, the Girondins de Bordeaux scored their first victory of the season. After four league matches, Bruno Irles’ men were left with three draws at home and one defeat away.
