Last spring, a crowd of users started complaining that their iPhone’s alarm clock was no longer ringing. According to numerous testimonies appearing on social networks, the alarm sometimes forgets to ring supposed to wake the user. In fact, the alarm goes off… but it doesn’t make a single sound. As a result, many people have been late for work, school, or some important appointment.
Faced with this crowd of annoyed testimonies, Apple promised to deploy a patch for the revival of the iPhone last April. Almost a year after the incident, it seems that the malfunction has not yet been corrected. A “stupid problem” that annoys iPhone users
On Reddit, users indicate, with supporting videos, that the alarm sometimes starts to ring several hours behind schedule. This stubborn bug does not only concern iPhones running an old version of iOS. iPhones running iOS 18.2.1 also suffer from a bug with the alarm function. The problem still appears to be rooted in the operating system code, despite Apple’s regular updates.
“I literally bought a physical alarm clock after I failed an important test because of this stupid problem. Seriously, Apple, why is it so hard to get an alarm to work?annoys an Internet user on Reddit.
We also encountered the problem on our iPhone 16 Pro Max. In a few months, it has happened several times that the alarm clock programmed on our smartphone does not ring. In our case, the alarm didn’t start ringing hours later. According to some reports, the bug is not limited to the Clock application. Some people also missed reminders.
5 ans de bugs
By searching Reddit, the media realized that the first testimonies mentioning a bug in the iPhone alarm clock date back to 2020. It has therefore been five years since the alarm function has encountered occasional failures. A 2020 publication reports thatan iPhone running iOS 13 missed several alarm clocks for no apparent reason. The publication was followed by a slew of similar testimonies.
-“Even today my alarms did not go off at the expected time. Like last time, the alarms do not appear to have been deactivated, exceeded their alert duration, or are in silent mode. However, later in the day, they eventually appear as a notification saying, for example, “35 minutes ago”testifies an Internet user.
Apple, however, committed to correcting the situation last year. We can bet that the Cupertino giant will not take long to look into the problem in the face of this new wave of testimonies.
