Xiaomi has unveiled a new entry-level smartphone, the Redmi 14C 5G, in India. It succeeds the budget model Redmi 13C 5G that debuted last year. A Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is at the heart of the device. It has 4/6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB internal storage space, which can be expanded up to 1 TB using a microSD card.

The main strong point of the smartphone is its large screen. The device features a large 6.88-inch IPS LCD display that displays 1600 x 720 pixels with a peak brightness of 600 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This is a significant improvement over to the 6.74-inch 90 Hz screen of the Redmi 13C (currently $122 on Amazon). However, there is no change in the screen resolution, which is still HD+.

The device retains the same camera features as its predecessor. It has a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50 MP primary camera and an unknown secondary sensor. The 8-megapixel front camera (instead of 5-megapixel) allows you to take selfies and video chat.

The Redmi 14C 5G features a 5,160mAh battery that supports 18W wired charging. The Redmi 14C 5G runs under the Xiao Site 14 base. It runs on Xiaomi HyperOS system based on Android 14, and Xiaomi promises two major Android updates (Android 1516) and four years of security patches. As for dimensions, the device measures 171.8 x 77.8 x 8.2 mm (HWT) (6.76 x 3.06 x 0.32 inches) and weighs 205 grams (0.45 lbs) .

Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, IP52 splash and dust resistance rating, expandable RAM up to 6GB, and support for ‘a dual 5G SIM card.

Available in Starlight Blue, Stardust Purple, and Stargaze Black colors, the Redmi 14C 5G is priced at INR 10,000 (~$116) for the base 4GB + 64GB model, and the 6GB + 128GB variant at priced at 12,000 INR (~$140). The smartphone will be available on , the official website of Xiaomi and Amazon India from January 10.
