Christian Horner, aged only 51, has just celebrated his 20th anniversary at the head of the Red Bull Racing team at the beginning of January.
A record longevity for the team director promoted on January 7, 2005 at the head of a team built on what Jaguar Racing was.
The Briton confides in this accomplishment while he has seen many other directors pass by in all the other teams.
“I remember my first Formula 1 Commission meeting which I attended at Heathrow in 2005.”
“Ron Dennis was there, Flavio Briatore was there, and Jean Todt was there for Ferrari. Bernie Ecclestone was leading the meeting with Max Mosley and so on, and I remember being in the meeting, and many things were discussed, but absolutely nothing was agreed, and leaving the meeting I was quite confused, apart from the day of the week it was taking place and the time of the next meeting, nothing had been decided.”
“It was really another world, I said to myself that it was the start of a great political game! I saw many directors pass by, teams too who were born and died and I don't know how many of proposals for various rules.”
“And I'm ultimately delighted to see that the progress made over the last 20 years has been significant for F1.”
