The Samsung Galaxy A16, launched last October, is the manufacturer's new entry-level representative. Only two months after its release, we can already find its 4G version at 189 euros instead of 219 euros at RED by SFR.
Only six months after the release of the Samsung Galaxy A15, the South Korean brand decided to launch, last October, its heir, the Samsung Galaxy A16, available in 4G and 5G. An improved version with good advantages, such as the six years of updates it will benefit from. Recently, the 5G version was entitled to a small discount, but today, it is the 4G model which sees its price drop, here below 200 euros.
What you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G
- A 6.7-inch Amoled panel
- Six years of updates!
- A MediaTek Helio G99 chip
Launched at 219 euros, the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G is now available on sale for 189 euros at RED by SFR.
A well-designed and durable smartphone
The Samsung Galaxy A16 4G is therefore one of the brand's latest entry-level smartphones. And despite this price positioning, the brand has not neglected the design of its device, which is really pretty and well designed, despite its fairly visible edges, especially at the chin, and its plastic back which attracts fingerprints. . Above all, the Galaxy A16 has the clear advantage of being IP54 certified; it is therefore resistant to splashing water.
It still scores points with its large 6.7-inch Amoled panel, which displays a definition of 2,340 × 1,080 pixels and offers a refresh rate of 60 or 90 Hz. Overall, the calibration is good, the colorimetry quite natural, but the brightness turns out to be a little too fair. On the software side, OneUI 6.1 is in place and it's still just as pleasant. Above all, let's remember the six years of major and security updates offered by the manufacturer, which makes it the entry-level smartphone offering the greatest software longevity on the market. Just that! Remember that the Galaxy A15 was entitled to “only” four years of OS updates.
Sufficient performance
In terms of performance, the Samsung Galaxy A16 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G99 chip, while the 5G version contains an Exynos 1330. With its SoC, the 4G model certainly does not deliver enormous power, but it should still be capable to run certain low-power games, and can easily perform classic tasks, such as web browsing, consulting social networks or writing SMS fluidly and without slowing down.
On the photo side, the block consists of a 50 Mpx wide-angle main sensor, a 5 Mpx ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 2 Mpx macro sensor. The photos captured in broad daylight are very readable, with a satisfactory level of detail. However, brightness management remains a weak point. Finally, regarding its autonomy, the Galaxy A16 has a 5,000 mAh battery which allows it to last a good day, or even beyond if you are reasonable in your use. 25W fast charging is also included.
