The European Commission is closely examining an advertising deal between Meta, the parent company of Instagram, and Google, owner of YouTube. The two American giants had entered into a partnership which aimed to broadcast an advertising campaign on YouTube promoting Instagram. Problem: the ad had to target underage YouTube users, in violation of Google's rules which normally prohibit any targeting of under 18s.
