Between rider transfers, a record 22 Grands Prix calendar and an intensified testing program for the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 categories, the 2025 Moto season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in the championship's history.

World champions celebrated at the 2024 FIM Awards

Last weekend, in Palma de Mallorca, the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) crowned the world champions of their discipline, including Jorge Martin (MotoGP, main photo), Toprak Razgatlioglu (Superbike), et Toni Bou (TrialGP). 62 winners were awarded the gold medal during the ceremony. 14 of them rode motorcycles equipped with award-winning Akrapovič systems.

This event definitively closes the year 2024 and opens the way to the 2025 season…

A 2025 MotoGP season with 22 Grands Prix (on paper)

MotoGP 2025 starts with something new: Thailand will host the first Grand Prix of the seasonon March 2, on the Buriram circuit, replacing Qatar, which will finally be held on April 13, due to Ramadan.

Other notable additions: the return of the Argentine GP on March 16, as well as the Czech Grand Prix in Brno (July 20) and the Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park (August 24), subject to contracts and homologation . India and Kazakhstan, initially planned, are absent, but the Buddh circuit is designated as a reserve event. After facing some upheavals this season, the MotoGP organization seems ready to handle any eventuality.

Following the European tour, the season will end with the overseas tour with key stops such as Japan (September 28), Australia (October 19), and Malaysia (October 26), before the grand final in Valencia on November 16.

Through auctions #RacingForValencia online and on site, the MotoGP raised more than 1.5 million euros to help Valencia and flood victims in southern Spain.

An ambitious testing program

Particularly for Quartararo and his Monster Energy Yamaha team, the testing phases represent a crucial issue.

2025 MotoGP season brings intensified testing programaimed at providing teams with crucial opportunities to fine-tune their machines.

Pre-season tests:

– Shakedown in Sepang (January 31 – February 2),
– Official tests in Sepang (February 5-7) and Buriram (February 12-13),
– Night testing in Losail, Qatar (February 29 – March 2), just before the start of the season.

In-season tests:

Three additional sessions will take place after European Grands Prix :

– Jerez (April 28) after the Spanish GP,
– Aragon (June 9), replacing Mugello,
– Misano (September 15) after the San Marino GP.

Moto2 and Moto3 winter tests:

The lower categories are obviously concerned by these days which should allow the teams to optimize their settings in real competition conditions.

– Moto3 in Portimão (February 10-11) and Moto2 (February 12-13),
– Joint test in Jerez (February 18-20).

With 22 Grands Prix, back-to-backs and major strategic adjustments, the 2025 MotoGP season promises to be a real challenge, both physically and technically, for riders and teams. If the first foundations are laid, we are not at the end of our surprises, the situation of KTM, embodying this “perfect” unknown…
