Gandi commits to the fight against online fraud with the Thémis project

Gandi.net announces its participation in the Thémis project, alongside the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).

Launched in 2023, the Thémis project aims to prevent online fraud through network analysis and early detection of warning signals of a possible scam. Co-financed by the Ile-de-France Region and the BPI, the project should result in the launch of a prevention tool by 2025.

To carry out this project, Gandi has partnered with LIP6, a research laboratory under the supervision of Sorbonne University and the CNRS, and the company Anemod, a specialist in the Internet of Behaviors (IoB).

The construction of fake websites begins with the registration of a domain name that is likely to mislead Internet users. The Thémis project therefore intervenes at this stage, by identifying the weak signals prior to this type of malicious action. These behaviors characteristic of fraudulent use of a domain name, identified as such by intensive learning, will make it possible to analyze the approximately 33,000 domain names registered each day and recognize these “patterns” to warn companies in advance and give them the means to act before the fraud.

The tool thus created should be put on the market in 2025 in the form of a subscription.

And of course, the development of Thémis will continue beyond its availability so that the tool adapts to the new behaviors of cybercriminals.
