It's a business not quite like the others which has just opened in the small town of Fiac, in Tarn. As indicated by our colleagues on the site Actu.frthis small grocery store with no employees and no charges is entirely managed by volunteers who give two hours of their time per month.
Le Piaf, which is the name of this atypical business, also hosts the municipal postal agency in its premises which is loaned free of charge by the town hall of the commune so that there is no charge.
A social project
Open to all, the grocery store offers moderate prices to all customers, but also has a social vision. Indeed, households that have financial difficulties can obtain special assistance in order to be able to purchase food products such as fruit, vegetables or even meat and dairy products. All in complete confidentiality thanks to a dedicated email address.
The Fiac solidarity grocery store also offers periodic protection free of charge thanks to the municipality which wanted to offer it to people who need it. On the practical side, Le Piaf is open three days a week: Tuesday morning, Thursday afternoon and Sunday morning.
