Ruben Ramchurn is launching into the complementary election to the Municipality of Yverdon-les-Bains, targeting the seat vacant after the death of Jean-Claude Ruchet.

Ruben Ramchurn will be a candidate in the complementary election to the Municipality of Yverdon-les-Bains. The troublemaker of local political life covets the seat left vacant after the death of socialist Jean-Claude Ruchet.

“I will submit the documents during next week,” announced the municipal councilor on Friday, in an interview with Blick romand. The former president of the Yverdon UDC, now without a party, says that it is time for him “to take my responsibilities and try to change things from the inside.”

Troubles with the law

In recent months, Ruben Ramchurn has made a lot of noise in Yverdon with his positions on street dealing. His TikTok videos on the subject exceed three million views, he notes.

The agitator also hit the headlines in several other areas, which also got him into trouble with the law. He was, for example, convicted of violating health rules during the pandemic. The City of Yverdon also filed a complaint against him for inciting racial hatred, while municipal councilor Brenda Tuosto is suing him for defamation.

“Having systematically appealed, I am presumed innocent in all these cases and I am ready to defend myself in court,” he asserts. And to add that, according to him:

“The only true judge of the politician is the population and their ballot”

A second candidate

Ruben Ramchurn is the second candidate to announce himself for this complementary election after the socialist Julien Wicki. The PLR, the UDC and the Vert'liberaux have decided to present a single candidate, but they have not yet nominated him. The deadline for submitting lists is December 20. As for the election, it is scheduled for February 9 (1st round) and, possibly, March 2 (2nd round).

With a left-wing majority, the Municipality of Yverdon is currently composed of the trustee Pierre Dessemontet (PS), the co-syndicate Carmen Tanner (Vert-es), Brenda Tuosto (PS), Benoist Guillard (Vert-es), François Armada (PLR) and Christian Weiler (PLR). (jah/ats)

Batteries were recently in action at both the orange giant and the German discounter. But one of the promotions turns out to be much more advantageous than the other. Lighting.

“2 for 1” is the action that Coop launched this week to encourage customers to buy a Varta battery. The promotion is indeed attractive. The price for ten items increases to 17.95, instead of 35.90 francs. A good deal? Not really.
