A veritable mess of applications of all kinds, the Google Play Store will soon help its users choose their applications correctly.
Indeed, Android Authority reports that The Google Play Store is testing a new feature aimed at informing users about the potentially low quality of certain applications. In his version 43.7.19-31the Google Play Store now displays warning messages on app detail pages. These messages include mentions like:
- The app is more frequently uninstalled compared to others.
- Google Play Store has little data on this app.
- Few active users use this app.
These warnings will not block the download, but will offer hints to guide users. They aim to alert you to potentially unreliable or useless applications, without penalizing those that are niche or very specialized. Indeed, some may have limited data or specific uses justifying their rapid uninstallation. Let’s also not forget fraudulent applications which should be more easily detectable.
Google’s initiative will be particularly useful for beginner users. Not forgetting those with slow connections and other restricted data plans. This will allow you to better assess the interest of an application before investing time or data in downloading it.
This new tool shows that Google is seeking to improve the user experience by increasing transparency on the quality of the applications available.
