Fable is definitely one of the most anticipated games of next year. Although announced in 2020, we had to wait until 2023 for the title to emerge, then finally 2024 to see even more. While many players are hoping for the game to show up soon, Jez Corden shares some interesting new details.

A combat system inspired by The Witcher

The Windows Central journalist confided in the latest episode of The Xbox Two that he was able to view gameplay from an alpha. However, he is not able to say if it is an old build, if it is recent, or even if it aims to be presented to the public. He does not know the original origin of the video.

He explains that the version he was able to see was particularly neat and that the fights are greatly inspired by the DNA of CD Projekt. This is not surprising, when we know that Paweł Kapała, having notably worked on The Witcher 3 as Gameplay Designer, finally joined the ranks of Playground Games in 2021. Note that he now works at Elsewhere Entertainment , Activision's new studio.

Thus, a bit like Geralt in the Witcher, the fights in Fable are described as very dynamic thanks to the use of multiple weapons, such as a sword, a bow, a crossbow, or even spell casting. Jez Corden was also able to once again see the power to lift a group of enemies before throwing them to the ground, a spell that we discovered in this year's trailer.

With a sword, the clashes are particularly nervous, because you have to constantly dodge and parry. The executions bring a little visceral side and Jez Corden also highlights the quality of the animations.

Finally, the journalist says he was able to see a variety of enemies, including a terrifying giant chicken.

Concerning the extract that he was able to view, he confirms that the character was once again the woman that we were able to see in the two trailers for the game released so far. However, although he needs to verify the information, he claims to have heard that it might be possible to select a man.

Since Fable is officially planned for 2025, we can now hope that it will be shown soon, for example at the Game Awards or during a third edition of Xbox Developer_Direct in June? Remember that the title will only be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Windows Store, and that it will integrate Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming from its launch.
