After Free, SFR could launch a new WiFi 7 box, here it is

The Altice technological laboratory has developed a new WiFi 7 box. It remains to be seen whether SFR will decide to launch it on the French market.

The race for the best technologies seems to continue among French operators. After having responded to Free and its Freebox Ultra on March 5 with the launch of a symmetrical 8 Gbit/s offer, could SFR soon market a new box integrating WiFi 7 in order to fully upgrade itself against Free on the wireless field?

This eventuality seems possible today, even if the operator remains silent on the question. One thing is certain, Altice Labs, a subsidiary of its parent company in charge of development of innovative products for the telecommunications market and routers for the group, has already developed a WiFi 7 box, at first glance intended for the Portuguese market via the operator Meo, owned by Altice.

As reported by DegroupTest, this laboratory located in Portugal is working on a Wi-Fi 7 compatible XGS-PON modem, its characteristics and visuals are also presented on its website. This box appears unsurprisingly compatible with 10 Gb/s fiber and integrates WiFi 7 Tri-band (2.4 GHz, 5GHz and 6 GHz), the same as the new very high-end box from Free. Added to this are four Ethernet ports (1/2.5/5/10G Base-T LAN).
