Visual Voicemail has been accessible for several days to Android smartphones using the Google Phone application, for both Mobile Vikings and Proximus customers. Availability will expand to Samsung devices this summer and iPhones with iOS 18.
Visual messaging was until now a small privilege enjoyed free of charge by Telenet, BASE and Orange subscribers (Sewan promotes it, but it is not actually operational in Belgium). Mobile Vikings and Proximus are added to this list: it has been a function requested by users for many years.
The principe ? Rather than calling the voicemail, you see and can listen to messages deposited in your voicemail from the interface of the telephone application on your smartphone.
First served will be Android users with the Google Phone app v132. It can be downloaded for free from Google Play. The activation now seems generalized for all subscribers who have this application.
If you use an iPhone or Samsung smartphone with the manufacturer’s telephone application, you will have to be a little more patient:
- Pour iPhoneactivation will take place with the arrival of iOS 18 at the end of September 2024. Carriers depend on official updates from Apple to take advantage of new carrier profiles. The function will then be available both to Proximus subscribers and to Mobile Vikings.
- Pour Samsungactivation should be ensured by the end of summer.
The service is free for all mobile subscriptions. It is accessible both via Wi-Fi and with 4G/5G coverage. A 30-second message is 28.35 KB. Your Mobile Vikings plan should therefore not suffer too much. The documentation has been updated for the occasion in the operator FAQs.
