Following the long-running success of its Wireless Go II and Wireless ME microphone systems, Australian audio company Rode is specifically targeting smartphone content creators. The new Wireless Micro is not only smaller and sleeker than its brothers, but its receiver is also designed like a dongle that plugs directly into a smartphone via a USB-C or Lightning connector.
Each mic features a “patent-pending acoustic chamber design” that ensures clarity while reducing wind noise. Additionally, furry hats are included for exceptionally windy conditions. Rode’s GainAssist technology automatically adjusts the audio level, ensuring there is no clipping or silence.
The mics each weigh 12 grams and can be attached using the built-in clip or a magnet. The transmission range is more than 100 meters, which is enough for outdoor use. The battery life of the mics is 7 hours and the charging case allows for two additional charges, for a total of 21 hours of battery life.
The entire system, housed in the charging case, measures just 72 x 58 x 30 mm (2.8 x 2.3 x 1.2 inches) and weighs 102 grams (3.6 oz). The mic itself, which can be attached using the built-in clip or the included magnetic attachments, weighs just 12 grams.
