The iPhone 16 hasn’t even been released yet, the iPhone 17 is already in the spotlight.

The iPhone 17, first rumors

Where the rumors of iPhone 16 are becoming clearer, we are already starting to obtain information on the iPhone 17, scheduled for September 2025. If Apple is working on the power of its devices, their autonomy or even the implementation of AI , the brand’s next fight would lie in finesse.

After the impressive refinement of the M4 iPad Pros, which became the thinnest Apple products in history – just over 5mm thick – other products could follow, starting with the iPhone. Renowned insider Mark Gurman tells us:

I’m told Apple is now focused on developing a significantly thinner phone in time for the iPhone 17 lineup in 2025. It’s also working on slimming down the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch. The goal is for the latest iPad Pro to mark the start of a new category of Apple devices that are expected to be the thinnest and lightest products in their class in the entire tech industry.

This search for finesse is not new. During the last decade, Apple designers, led by Jony Ive, sought to offer the thinnest iPhones possible, to the detriment of autonomy, or even solidity (we are thinking of you, dear iPhone 6 Plus). Apple abandoned this pilgrimage and let the iPhone gain some weight, making it easy to get through the day. This time, we hope that this turnaround for the iPhone 17 will only be positive.

What about the iPhone 16 then?

With the iPhone 16 arriving in a few months, the rumors are becoming more and more specific. Less than 5 months before the presumed release of the iPhone 16, the first rumors are already going well. One of them concerns the autonomy of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, mentioned in an article written by Ming-Chi Kuo, a Chinese analyst.

In his publication dated May 17, he predicts that the iPhone 16 Pro Max should be equipped with a battery with greater energy density. Specifically, the battery will be the same size as the one used for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but the Wh/kg ratio is improved. The Californian firm could also move to “stacked battery technology”, which uses a technique to fold the battery components in zig-zags, thus gaining space and therefore capacity for the same volume.
