The graduation ceremony for the 270th class of peacekeeper students took place this Thursday, June 27. The Toulouse police school has 108 applicants, including the first in the national ranking.

Under a blazing sun, a white and black wave surges in song towards the parade ground of the Toulouse national police academy. Thirty-one women and seventy-seven men dressed in their uniforms are moving towards professional life.

The graduation ceremony for the 270th class of student peacekeepers was held this Thursday morning in the presence of the highest authorities. Frédéric Veaux, director general of the national police, had made the trip to Toulouse for a very particular reason.

An average of 19.53/20

Of the 1,431 students spread across the twelve schools in France, the promotion from the Pink City is first in the ranking. The now peacekeeper Paul Chavanes, 27 years old, obtained an average of 19.53/20. He chose to be assigned to a mountain CRS.

It was therefore he who took the solemn oath for his classmates. The latter had chosen to adopt, this year, the name of Captain Eric Monroy, a police officer killed in August 2020 by a drunk driver in Le Mans.

“Be irreproachable and exemplary”

“You must be impeccable and exemplary on a daily basis,” said the school director, divisional commissioner Florence Petiot. “You must always show discernment. Live up to expectations.”

The national police orchestra, which came specially from Paris, accompanied the ceremony in front of an audience made up of authorities and relatives of the young police officers, aged 25 on average.

Pierre-André Durand, the prefect of the Occitanie and Haute-Garonne Region, presented his professional card to the valedictorian. At the end of an hour of ceremony, the 108 white caps of the new peacekeepers flew away like a flock of doves.
